Terms of use of The Coffee House gift cards

1. These terms and conditions tell you about the legal terms and conditions which apply to your purchase and use of physical The Coffee House gift cards. 

2. These gift card terms apply to pounds sterling gift cards purchased online through the The Coffee House website (www.coffeehouseonline.co.uk) as well as gift cards purchased at a stand-alone physical The Coffee House branded store. 

3. The Coffee House reserves the right to update and change the terms and conditions of our The Coffee House gift cards at any time. This does not affect your legal rights. Use of your The Coffee House gift card constitutes acceptance of our Terms and Conditions and we therefore recommend you read them carefully. It is your responsibility to check these gift card terms from time to time to ensure you are aware of any changes which may have been made. The Coffee House gift cards remain the property of The Coffee House who maintains the right to cancel the card in its sole discretion in situations where it is deemed necessary to do so (such as to comply with applicable laws or as a result of circumstances beyond its control).

4. The value of your The Coffee House gift card can be redeemed in any stores in the UK or online at www.coffeehouseonline.co.uk provided the gift card is redeemed within the redemption period applicable to the jurisdiction where the gift card was originally purchased.

By way of example, a The Coffee House gift card purchased in the UK shall have a redemption period of 12 months from the date of issue. 

5. The gift card balance cannot be exchanged for cash or redeemed against the purchase of another card.

6. For gift cards purchased online, The Coffee House will provide you with specific denominations to choose from; in-store, you can select any amount to load o to your gift card. 

7. You can Top-Up or perform a Balance enquiry at any The Coffee House store by taking your card to the till point. 

E-Gift Cards

8. The Coffee House e-gift cards are subject to the same terms and conditions as physical gift cards set out above.

9. E-gift cards are delivered electronically and will be received via email by the purchaser or designated recipient.

10. E-gift cards can only be redeemed online at www.coffeehouseonline.co.uk and cannot be used in any physical The Coffee House stores.

Validity

11. Your The Coffee House gift card is valid for a period of 12 months from the date of activation (which for in-store shall be the date of the gift-card purchase, and for online, the date of dispatch of your order) following which they expire automatically. A gift card cannot be used after the expiry date and any remaining balance will be removed and the card will become invalid and no longer available for use. We have no obligation to remind or inform you of a gift card’s expiry and it is your sole responsibility to ensure that any balance is used in full prior to expiry. 

12. A Gift Card expires automatically once its balance has been exhausted. A Gift Card may be topped up with additional funds provided the gift card is still valid and has not yet expired. 

13. Gift Cards may be used to pay for the whole or any part of an in-store purchase or online order.

14. Only one gift card may be used per online order. In-store, there is no limit on the number of gift cards that may be used in one transaction. To transfer the balances from multiple gift cards onto a single gift card, please contact our Customer Service team.

Lost/ Stolen/ Damaged

15. You are solely responsible for the safe-keeping and security of your gift card following delivery. In cases where your The Coffee House gift card is lost or stolen, The Coffee House is unable to replace or reimburse the remaining balance on a card. The Coffee House cannot be held responsible for any balance lost on a The Coffee House gift card as a result of theft or fraud. All The Coffee House gift cards have a unique PIN number on the back of the card which is required for online purchases. The Coffee House cannot be held responsible for any unauthorised use where the card number and/ or PIN have become known to another party.

16. Should your The Coffee House gift card become damaged, The Coffee House will be able to replace the card providing you still have the card in your possession and the necessary details can be obtained.

Crediting a The Coffee House gift card

17. Please retain an expired gift card should you wish to return your purchase. Any goods paid for using a gift card that are subsequently returned for a refund will be credited to the original gift card or in the event that you have discarded or misplaced your original card, issued on a new The Coffee House gift card. For returns where part payment was taken from a gift card, the refund will be credited to your gift card in the first instance. 

18. If a partial refund is made for any purchase using a The Coffee House gift card and another method of payment, then any refund amount owing will be credited to The Coffee House gift card in the first instance.

19. If the total to be refunded is more than originally paid by The Coffee House gift card, then any remaining refund balance will be refunded to the other method of payment used by you (i.e. debit/credit card or cash).

Data Protection 

20. Personal data relating to your purchase or use of a gift card will be used in accordance with current applicable data protection and privacy legislation and our privacy policy which can be found at: https://www.coffeehouseonline.co.uk/privacy-policy.

Governing Law and jurisdiction

21. These conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. You agree, as we do, to submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.

UK Social Media Competition Terms & Conditions

Eligibility
22. The competition is open to individuals aged 18 or over unless otherwise stated.
23. Entrants must have a valid account on the social media platform where the competition is hosted.

How to Enter
24. Entry opens on the date the competition post is published and remains open for two weeks.
25. To enter, participants must follow all steps stated in the competition post (e.g., like the post, share/repost, and follow our account).
26. Entries must comply with the entrant’s social media platform privacy settings (e.g., shares must be public to be counted).
27. No purchase is necessary to enter.
28. The competition is not sponsored, endorsed, administered by, or associated with any social media platform.

Winner Selection
29. After the closing date, one (1) winner will be chosen at random from all valid UK entries.
30. The selection process will be fair and in line with ASA & CAP Code rules for prize promotions.
31. The draw will take place within 7 days of the competition closing.

Notification of Winner
32. The winner will be contacted via direct message on the social media platform they used to enter, or by email if provided.
33. The winner must reply within 72 hours. If they do not respond, the organiser reserves the right to select a replacement winner.

Prize Details
34. The prize is as described in the competition post.
35. The prize is non-transferable, non-refundable, and no cash alternative is available.

Data Protection (UK GDPR)
36. Personal data collected during the competition will be handled in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
37. Entrants’ data will only be used for administering the competition, contacting the winner, and any promotional announcements if consent is provided.

Publicity
38. By entering, participants agree that their name and social media handle may be used in winner announcements.
39. Additional publicity (e.g., photos, interviews) will only be used with the winner’s explicit consent.

General Conditions
40. The organiser accepts no responsibility for late, lost, incomplete, or non-public entries due to technical or privacy settings.
41. The organiser reserves the right to cancel, amend, or suspend the competition where necessary due to events outside its reasonable control.
42. The competition and these Terms & Conditions are governed by English law, and any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
43. By entering, participants agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions.
